This may be a minor question, but my 69 base 350 has a 73 quadrajet, and I've been sorting things out for a while now. My question is, I see there is a specific return spring for a 69, a diffferent one for a 70 thru 72 and another one (blue) for a 73 vette. I tried the 69 spring and it didn’t feel strong enough and it felt like the rpm’s didn’t come down to idle very well after letting off the gas pedal. I see the 70 -72 spring looks more substantial, and the 73 looks similar with the exception of color. If these carbs are all pretty similar, and can all be effectively used on the 350, why are all these springs diffferent, and more importantly, which spring is proper for my application? Thanks.

I use a duel spring because it snaps the throttle back efficiently and its mandatory at Epping raceway if I go up for a public race night. They want he rednancy for saftey.
to answer your question, GM must have figured out that they needed a stronger spring as the years went by, like any model year change, they either hired a smarter engineer or they had enough issues the bean counters said they could change it to fight a recall or law suite
