Alternator question!
Hi all,
recently had my alternator belt go out on me, and I was just wondering if you should be able to spin the alternator by hand freely in both directions? Mine spins Quite freely clockwise whereas counter clockwise it feels as if it kind of locks up? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Why not just buy a rebuild kit with new bearings and have the peace of mind that the alternator is not going to leave you somewhere out on the road?
Plenty of Youtube videos on how to rebuild the alternator and you'll have the satifaction knowing that you did it yourself.

Sometimes after an alternator is run for a time the brushes will take a set and feel tight in the reverse direction.
This doesn't mean much, but it does mean you should check the brushes to see if they are worn.
