I have them and think they work well. They say it lets the wheel stay in contact with the road over bumps, and it seems to work. However, I just had a set of cheap monroe sensatracs on there before and most any quality shock should be an improvement over them.
As for handling, I don't notice any excessive body lean in turns or braking so they also seem to firm up when they should (as advertised).
So overall I'd say they do what they say, but as I never had bilsteins or koni's I can't compare the IAS to them. Many forum members like the bilsteins and koni's.
I have them on my 72. The ride and handling is far superior to the Monroe's I took off. I like them so much, I have ordered them for the 95 and plan to use them on my T-Bird too.
I have the IAS's as well, I love them. Put them on both vettes in the family. It's hard to compare shock to shock unless you are swapping between two new sets. So your normally comparing a 40-60k shock to a new one. My 73 still had the original 48k miles shocks on it, so comparing them to a set of modern performance shocks is not much of a comparison. Now the 86 on the other hand is a little better comparison it had about 69k on the original Z-51 bilsteins, and i think the IAS's were an improvement, they are as firm without the tendency to get the tires off the ground in a hard bump like the bilsteins used to so control is deffinitly better on a rough surface. I wouldn't get the IAS's if your looking for a plush ride becouse they are firm, not obnoxiously firm, but sports car firm, at least in my somewhat heavy 73 BB vette. Now the 86 is deffinitly firm but your not going to get a Z-51 to ride nice, the entire suspension is setup to be firm on that one. I got mine through eshocks.com, they had the best prices when I was shopping around, a forum member pointed them out for me, I think maybe it was zwede.
