Default Differential Code Tag Location

For curiosity's sake I was trying to check out my differential code. I couldnt locate it. I didnt jake up the car, just kinda looked around. Can someone specifically tell me where the tag is bolted to the diff?

According to the "Restoration Pkg." : "Bottom edge of differential carrier flange." The codes can be deciphered as: OM = 3.36; OH - 3.55; OJ - 3.70 And if I remember correctly, it isn't a tag, but stamped right into the flange... If I err, I'm certain to be corrected

They may have moved it, but considering a window crank for a 55 chevy will probably fit chevys for 20 years after that you might consider the info in my '69's Service manual which says it is "on bottom surface of carrier at cover mounting flange."

No tag. It's stamped on the bottom along with an assembly date. The funky looking tags were used with the solid axle cars. Those are the ones that look like "O", or "D", or ?? They have cutouts in them. Each cutout denotes a different ratio. Chuck
