I have an 82 corvette. Someone had installed an aftermarket alarm system into it. When I had it repainted I had the body shop remove it. Now ever once and awhile I will be setting at a stop light and when I hit the gas the whole car shuts down. If I let off quick enough the electric kicks back in. If not I have to start the car again and it seems fine. Any suggestions.
Is it just the ignition that shuts down, or do other electrical components shut down as well? If so, specify which, i.e. interior lights, headlights, radio, heater fan, etc.
the whole electrical system. I had to connectors that were melting. One under the hood and one behind the cluster. Cut them out and replaced them. All good now.
Are you certain it was an aftermarket alarm system? The '82 came with a standard alarm system that was reasonably sophisticated and included ignition kill.
