carburetor filter paper

Is the check valve in the paper filter for if you roll over it shuts fuel off and i noticed a couple N.O.S. with no check valve

Yes we used to call that a roll-over valve. It was common to remove the guts from them as they were believed to be prone to causing problems. Don't know if they did or not, but that's what everyone did.

yes i believe you are correct it could get hung up and give a restriction on fuel flow also. Thanks dewet

I think the valve also helps prevent fuel running out of the carb once the car is shut down.
Many people prefer this one vs the one without the valve.

Check valve one prevents bleed back....but flows less. Non-check valve unit flows more but the bowl will drain. Most who run the check valve type will never notice it.
