There is also a HB installing tool. I highly advise using one.
Good advice both ways, pushing and pulling. I neglected to install a bolt in the crank for the puller to push against. The tip of the puller broke off inside the crank. It was a lot of fun fixing that!
My additional advice, look into a two-piece timing cover. That can help simplify a lot of major repairs.
And I had a timing chain jump a slot. I can't remember for sure if it still ran but I think it did and I made it home. A nice tight chain really helps with engine revving responsiveness.

One other little trick is to heat the balancer in a tub of hot water while using a bag of ice or freezer pack on the crank snout fo about 15 mins. before installing. Makes it easy.
