Nice running 383
This is my friends wife driving her newly created 77 C3 race car by her husband to mess around at the local track last Saturday, she likes to go fast. Even with the temps still high IMO here, she still is being able to put down 11.70s. This launch broke a spindle which is being replaced as I type this and getting it ready for this Saturday night. The funny thing is that that motor and mine are fairly close, but with some other changes, like a 200R trans, 3500 TC, 850 Holley, more compression and a 3.73 gear. She just upgraded the stall for that race to the 3,500 TC which obviously the Chinese junk steel spindles had a hard time with that upgrade. I fully expect to see an 11.50 ET out of it this weekend at Wild Horse Pass. Here is the spindle, sheared it in half. She had all good parts in the rear except those spindles, now they are Tom's that were shipped overnight. This motor was in his 67 a couple years ago and ran 11.50s with it. Oh yeah, this is also with full exhaust with mufflers in those sides pipes in these runs...She likes it quite. LOL
Here is her husbands 67 Camaro race car with a 421 SB with a 200R, 4:11 and 4,000 TC. He took second place at the last Drag Week on the east coast.

I'm not sure, but I can easily find out for you for sure. Give me a day or two to gather the data for you.
So I just texted my friend and he said that her 60' are running right at 1.62 and MPH was 115.1 @ 4000' DA and 114.35 with a 4800' DA. The motor runs well right now.

Thanks for that info. Considering those DA levels, now I'm even more impressed. Definitely 11.50 potential there. What's in the motor?

Not sure what all is done with that motor, but it isn't too far away from mine. My cam is slightly larger, but don't remember the specs of hers, same heads AFR195, the CR is around 10.7, has an 850 Holley, I do not know what intake she is running though and the bottom end is solid. My friend texted me today that the rear is all back together and going to be racing it tomorrow which is actually bracket racing vs test and tune. That same motor in the camaro above ran 11.50s all day long and was real consistent in times race after race. He see's no reason that the car won't run 11.50s with the right air. I'm hoping to go tomorrow, but I do have things that may keep me from that. I'll post up how it went though.
Very nice running Vette I snapped an axle in my 76 at he track 10 years ago due to wheel hop. I upgraded the rearend to a 4-link instas of repairing. My manual tranny didn’t help though.

It appear to be about 219 miles to the drag strip. We are down here on the parker strip for the upcoming endurance boat races next weekend at the Blue Water Casino https://rpmracingent.com/boat-racing
Maybe another time. I was also invited to NHRA in vegas

Well the 77 performed well today at the track, but just couldn't get to the 11.50ish mark, but almost. She ran a best 11.61, 1.60 60' @ 115.12mph with 3800-4000 DA. So her ET has dropped .15 and 60' .02 from previous best. The new Tom's spindles held up just fine along with everything else, but still needs some work to lower that ET just a tad. She says she is shifting too early, but she doesn't have a lot of seat time either in that car. She will get there soon enough and and getting better every time out.

Thanks for the update. A little lower DA will generate an 11.5 ET for sure.
What is the actual elevation of the track?

And I'm only 12-13 miles away, makes it really convenient for me when I have the need for speed.
Have you been to any of the boat races there? It's a nice lake right next to the track and on the other side of the track is the Bondurant high performance driving center and a nice road course.

Yep! I cooled off here overnight yesterday to 64* as a day high. Holy Crap! That is a huge temp drop for us, but welcomed for sure. Now I can get out and work on my car in comfort for a change. It looks like maybe the heat is finally turned off in AZ for the winter and now it's time to pull the toys out and play for the winter months. I suspect when Jan/Feb rolls around and the DA here is at its best, she will reach the 11.50 mark with no problem, maybe better.

Update, my friend text me today and said they went to the track yesterday with the 77 and ran 11.49 with a 1.58 60', not bad. I knew that car had it in it to do that, maybe better. He seems to think it will go a little faster, he forgot how he set it up for his wife and let it hit the rev limiter...Oops! So, with his wife in there under the same conditions, it should go a bit faster. The DA last night was 1,550 when he ran. I wish I knew he was going and I might have taken mine out there also with a DA almost at track elevation.
