Default SUMMIT RACING

A company by which I measure everyone else.....
Just want to mention how happy I am with SUMMIT, even though they sell rice stuff.
Parts ordered 10PM Thanksgiving night and arrive Monday morning standard delivery no next day air. No shipping charges.
I've ordered via PAW, ECKLERS, RIKS, MA, PACIFICA, ZIP etc. etc. and some still have outstanding deliveries due (greater than 5 weeks :nonod: ) but these guys on Thanksgiving weekend send out my stuff. I'm utterly amazed. Too bad they do not sell Corvette specific stuff like Ecklers.

Just sharing

Summit does very well, but so does Jegs, I normally order from who has the lowest price out of the both of them, either one takes 2 days for me to get my parts.

Cali...

I e-mailed three different high performance shops on Saturday night asking what their recommendations would be for an intake & carburator for this new engine that I have coming in. And one of them was local that I talked to on the phone Saturday that gave me thoughts that they were really interested in possibly selling me a couple of thousand $$$ in parts. I took almost an hour writing them an e-mail(after they told me to do it) detailing out everything that I needed.... the usages.... and every spec that was imaginable that would help them with making recommendations. It's now Wednesday night and they haven't even been courteous enough to acknowledge the e-mail. They must think I don't have other avenues to go through. I hate to tell them, but they are sorely wrong.

The only one that answered? Summit

And they exactly gave me the recommendations of what will work with this Dart head engine. A Weiand 7530 intake & Holley 750 vacuum secondary carb. Not even one push to sell parts... just great information. Guess who gets my business?

I had a bittersweet experience with Summit when I ordered my Cragars. They sent the wrong lugs and forgot the spacers. A condescending operator, who thought I ordered the wrong wheel size (even though I ordered by naming my year and model and never specified the size), scolded me and told me I would have to eat the return and re-shipping fees. :bs With the help of Cragar, I convinced this moron that they were indeed the ones at fault and got the problem resolved at their expense. PITA, but I got a good price on the wheels.

So are they Forum sponsors? If they are, I will expect my less than perfect opinion to mysteriously disappear. If they are not, then I will expect this entire thread to disappear. The last time I saw a thread about a supporting vendor, I was receiving replies via e-mail and all of the negative replies were no where to be found on the board. This does not lend much credibility to any of the "what do you think of..." threads, but what the Hell, I thought I would share my $0.02.

I've spend a buck or two with them. Not just since being a C3 owner but also as Service Manager of The Dyno Shop. I've ordered stuff just to get the customer the best price I can because either my regular vendor was outta stock or was simply way outta line in my opine.

I vote FOR summit (summitt?) How ever they spell it.

L-48 Shark sorry to hear about your experience but I guess that shows no one can satisfy everyone/ give perfect service 24/7. As far as this thread supporting vendors I never intended to support anyone. If I'm in the wrong I apologize to all. I simply wanted to share my delight in these people's outstanding help of my project.

Both places have shown super customer service for orders and returns. Maybe this discussion could be forwarded to places like Corvette Central and Zip who could use a lesson in service or any others that forum members have had less than stellar service from. There is a hell of a market for Vette parts and supplies and I think these places figure oh well they don't have a choice so we'll do what we want.

Well, I guess I should give Summit another chance. Lord knows I need the parts since the wreck. :nopity If so many of you guys approve, then my experience must have been a deviation from the norm.

Anyway, I sure do not think you are in the wrong to share your appreciation. However, recently the MODS got a little worked up about people praising non-supporting vendors (because it would discourage them from advertising if they are already getting free press) and also people disparaging supporting vendors (for obvious reasons). That puts one of us in violation, I guess.

I think the thread that started the fracas was one that praised a supporting vendor and someone had a differing opinion. That post was deleted and then this thread immediately appeared: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=419824

Personally I was a little perturbed knowing that threads were censored in this manner, but on the other hand running a popular site like this one is not free and I can certainly see the MODS point of view in that respect. It makes perfect business sense.

Gee, I hope they don't mind me discussing all this. :blueangel:

I feel the same, C Central tops the list of vendors I will NOT use.

I order from both but I like Summit the best. They are always fast and never give you trouble when parts are faulty, even voerseas. I once ordered the wrong pump pickup, the catalog mentioned that a pickup was for a BBC pump and the site said it was for the SBC, I didn't check the catalog so I had the wrong one. They refunded my money and let me keep the pickup I already had since it would be such a hassle to send it back.
