Default Paint before or after engine install?

Restoring a 75 coupe and have body ready for paint. Should I pull engine and detail eng compartment before or after the body is painted?

Gosh if it was me, I'd paint the body LAST after everything I wanted to do, was done to the car.

Now that's not to say that things always get done in order! :smash:

I would do the motor first, I would shoot myself if I scratched up my ne paint removing the motor.

I agree, I'd paint the body last. My reasoning is that the amount of large objects being moved over and around the car would be far less at that point so less chance of paint or body damage, plus you can really clean out the engine compartment without worrying about overspray or making a mess.

Nooooo!Paint he car with the engine out.I usually paint the car with the engine bay completely gutted.Bodywork and painting and buffing make such a mess it is hard to keep it off of a freshly detailed/assembled engine bay.Just wrap the front end of the car in foam during the engine istallation. Also after you paint the body ,tape up the outside and paint your engine bay and wheel wells. I know to some of you that sounds backazzwards but thats basically how the General did it. :yesnod: :seeya
