Knew you werent hunting Mark, and you were cooking up the "best" stockish engine that you may do for yourself.

Did something similar with a 70 Z/28 I owned many yrs ago, car was super strong. Manifolds, smog pump the whole 9 yards.
One of the best all purpose 350s Ive owned.

I picked up the vette today as my mechanic changed the plugs. Car drives like new sounds incredible. He did a compression test on all cylinders. They were between 140-150 which he says is great considering the engine has never been rebuilt. He suggests a centrifugal supercharger on the existing engine run with it and if in the future it needs an engine rebuild we can do that. I like the suggestion because I really like the 1973ness of the car.

To each his own. But I would never do a blower on one of these cars, especially a centrifugal. It's just not period correct.

A sneaky 383 with painted high flow aluminum heads could look exactly like your under-hood look now. And make 425hp/450TQ and be a rocket!

My LS6 BB is not original, and not the fastest thing around either, there are even SBs around that make more HP, but it is a period correct BB. Appeals to way more people than a centrifugal. I drove a 900HP Supra, even tho it was very fast, it made me yawn, sorry. It didn't tickle my "got to have it" nerve. Now the Baldwin Motion built 13:1 aluminum head L88 71 Trans Am street racer I drove once, with "only" 650+HP, I still have w** dreams about! Even tho it was like 30 years ago. Boy did that thing clear out the Dairy Queen when we pulled up! Practical? Not so much. Lust? Ohh Yeah!

Your car looks so "virgin" and "original". Keep the look. And make it run! JB78L82 has an awesome L82 build on this site.

Only bad thing about a period correct c3 is being slow...noone really expects them to move out as his would with a supercharger, I say do it.
Theres enough stock ones out there

Ive seen people at car shows think they are an ac unit lol

400hp is plenty for a fun cruiser. You start hit 500hp the is a difference animal. I my opinion 400 hp is fun, easy cruising and great for sport drive on the street. More is not always better.

Agree....how much can one get to the ground anyways..if all one does is spin whats the point for a true driver?
Couldnt get on my other car if I wanted (to run someone)...watched a full size ram 2wd truck destroy a trackhawk...left hard, no spinning I was impressed

for 5 to 8k if n it were me fresh 30 over bore block all machined, a clegg engine 383 kit, a set of procomp alluminum heads, a 280 magnum cam, hooker or sanderson headers, all msd ignition sys dual plain intake, sniper fuel injection, if you get the ballanceded forged kit you can always add nitrous plate sytem later. and the sniper and the fitech allow you to use nitrous, it will be all under the hood and look good
