Default 1969 A/C ducts

I’m hoping someone could give me some help in getting the ducts aligned properly behind the dash clusters. I’m having a difficult time getting the driver side and center ducts to align properly. The misalignment affects the orientation of the upper windshield wiper switch pod. Is this a common problem as I have noticed the fitment on other C3’s appear to be off center?

Did you replace the center bezel for a new one because the new ones are crap.

Not sure what components you have moved or adjusted, but the original A/C ducts have foam 'seals' on interconnections so that they would not leak even if they required some in-out adjustment between them. My point here is that you can NOT fit them together tight and fix them in place (tape, screw, whatever) because the entire 'system' will not line up properly with ALL the pieces assembled. Almost always, the foam seals on the ends of the ducts are GONE after turning to dust...so you might not even know they should be there.

I replaced the 'vanishing' seals with some felt material and glued it to the appropriate parts. The joints seal fine...and the pieces can still have some freedom to find a proper "home" after the assembly work is finished.

Not sure that is your problem, but I am relaying the "issues" I have found when doing the same work.

Yes I am using a replacement center bezel. The windshield wiper switch bezel is the original.

I have purchased the seal kits for the ducts. They fit fine when you put them together outside the cockpit. The trouble I’m having is with the ducts not lining up when after I get the speedo cluster in. As you probably know the center duct has a screw on the right side so it is fixed in that location. Where the center duct and the driver side duct come together is where my problem occurs.

The AIM is very beneficial for properly assembling all that 'stuff' in there behind the gauge bezel and the instrument cluster. The wiring bundles, ducting, etc need to be nestled together carefully as shown in the AIM drawings. Not sure anyone can offer better guidance than those drawings. Good luck with it....
