Have disassembled my spare diff. It is a 79 3.55. Did GM ever use German bearings, specifically SKF? Internals do not seem to have much wear, snowflake clutches still have plenty of crosshatching and the stub axles measure out at apx .187. Don't know the hardness yet. Looks like someone may have already been in here.
63-67? used only Hyatt bearings and Torrington axle bearings. 67-79 used NDH- New Departure Hyatt bearings- and the Torringtons. Someone was in there before so you have to look close to see what was done. SKF are good bearings, most times Timkens are in there or Bower as they were/are common at parts stores. GM never used them.
