Is the distributor locked out? It has to be. Is it phased per the Holley Sniper manual? It has to have that too.
I agree with above that these systems shouldn't even be sold without a Hyperspark Ignition that compliments it.....
I tried to make a Sniper work with a regular distributor and it just would not do what I wanted it to do......timing moved around everywhere.
Having the timing control is 50% of the equation on these.....
Jeb, what do you mean regular distributor? vacuum centrifugal? or an OEM efi style distributpor?
Plain old $100 Belly Button HEI......I bought an adjustable phaser that used the Vac Advance pin (Vac can removed) and a lock out kit from Speedway......it didn't like the phaser....jumped all around. The Sniper harness has a separate harness that spliced into the HEI....it was just too backyard. Myself and two friends installed the Hyperspark (One mounting the unit, me stabbing distributor and phasing with Holley tool...and the third routing wires and terminating......took about 90 minutes start to finish and 30 minutes to set the timing via pendant and change over to timing control in the software. 5000lb. K5 Blazer with a 355 Blueprint 385hp engine.....4X4....700r4.....runs like a raped ape.
I may have to call Holley today and ask about the Hyperspark Ignition & if it will fit under my stock hood (1973 Corvette). Plus, its around $200 cheaper. https://www.holley.com/products/igni.../parts/565-300
The Hyperspark distributor is designed to work with the Hyper box and coil......it is plug and play. Wire 12v to it and go.
Consult with these guys......better than buying it direct. https://www.efisystempro.com/ignition-components
