Hello, I have a 1982 Corvette and the cruise control isn't working. I have checked the vacuum hoses for an cracks or leaking and none were found with issues. I did pull the line off that goes to the cruise control servo and no vacuum is present. I noticed the hose also goes to the transducer and some electrical wires so I was thinking there might be valve that allows the vacuum to be on and off.
Does the cruise have to be set for the vacuum to start working form the transducer?
Is there power to the transducer? I have trouble keeping mine working and the problem is invariably the switch on the brake pedal is not closing to allow power to the tranducer.
I was up messing with this today and tried following the document shared above. I couldn't make the device click with the key on. I tried checking to see if I had power but I couldn't get the volt meter to register anything. It could have been operator error as well. The break pedal part is only $20 so it isn't a big risk to change it just to make sure. Strange that all the break lights and stuff works correctly. I would have thought if it was bad I would have other issues.
Cruise Control Pedal Release Switch I see there is this switch as well. It is separate and cost $50. Does this only need replaced if the cruise won't disengage?

The cruise control portion of the brake light switch is separate from the switch for the brake lights. This part is essentially two switches with one plunger. So, it is very possible for only one of the switches to be 'failed'. When the switch is triggered, one switch changes from NO to closed; the other changes from NC to open. It is also possible that the wire from the 'cruise control' portion of that switch is not making proper connection or has an internal break.
I did review under the dash and all the wires and connections look in good shape. I didn't find any fuse for the cruise specifically. Where does the actual wire from the cruise control lever plug in. I will unplug it and clean the connection and see if that helps.
Since the speedometer is working fine is there any change the actual transducer is defective or is the normal issue electrical connections?

The transducer is the most likely problem if the servo still holds vacuum.
The transducer was the issue so I mailed to Richard in Minnesota. He had it rebuilt same day he received it and sent it back. I was only without it 5 days. My car does speed up by 3-4mph when I push the button but he told me to adjust the orifice on the side since I have resume as an option.
If anyone needs help troubleshooting or having one rebuilt.

He charged me $129.50 minus tax and shipping.
I actual found him on Ebay as he has already has rebuilt ones if you want to go that route but I wanted to keep mine.
