been about 25 years or so since I last changed out my power steering pump. I need to get the pulley off to put on the new pump. Bolt won't budge.
This "Little Darling ". I've tryed my 1/2 inch impact , heat , long breaker bar with heat. currently soaking in penetrating oil. Any idea's Guy's. getting another pulley here in Australia could take weeks.
Allen head yes, metric anything absolutely not . not part of the shaft on the new pump to be certain. hole with threads absolutely certain. allen head more like 3/8ths. I do NOT own a Japanese Corvette.
Not clear how old you are. but I am highly unlikely to be your Son. I would like to believe I can use those threads to pull the pulley back on. The pump on my 77 is a reman unit I replaced 25 or so years ago. truthfully I really don't remember the details of changing it out. thats why I posted. I really am looking for good advice. However suggesting that I have a metric car or calling an old man "Son". is counterproductive.
I watched the video posted by bmotojoe and it was ok, but the one right after it showed the pulley being removed from the pump. The pulley was removed using a puller. What you believe to be a bolt is the shaft for the pump.

There is no bolt.
The pulley is removed/installed the same as a harmonic balancer, only difference being the type of puller.

You need to buy the $27 power steering pulley puller kit - you cannot remove the pulley without the correct tools. Get the right tools and it comes right off. The puller kit also includes the special installation tool, that you MUST use to install the pulley.
