Developed an oil leak a while back and with some warm days I decided to replace the valve cover gaskets. Not as easy as I would have liked, Alt and smog stuff had to be moved and the covers wrestled off etc. Anyways, start the car today to burn off and fluids that leaked and see if there are any other issues when I notice my fan isnt working. Not on any speed or any setting, a/c, heat etc. Figured maybe i jostled something and blew a fuse. I dont see any fuse in the fuse block diagram that indicates blower motor? Checked one or two anyway but they seem good and most other electronics seem to be working. I took a look at the blower motor itself and it seem there are 2 electrical connections, a single one on top and one lower. The top one has a wire connected, the bottom doesnt? I also have two wires in the vicinity that are loose and not connected to anything, 1 is black and 1 is a heavier purple one. Any ideas or thoughts? Thx, Cory
Looks like this is actually under the blower motor, should something be connected to this? Would it be either the black or purple wire that are unattached to anything now. I guess I could have tugged on a wire when pulling the valve covers.
Yes like interpon stated, black is ground and purple is power. The ground should go to a male spade terminal mounted on one of the blower motor mounting screws. The power wire, purple wire, should have a round rubber boot on it and plugs on to the terminal with the round part on it that you show in your picture.

I have a heavier gauge purple wire just laying loose in the area so I guess I pulled that out. My concern is that when I put a test light to it there is no power there.

verify test light ground and fan ground.. put blower in high (should send full voltage to fan which is the click in the relay)
also i find it strange that you could have pulled the wire from doing valve covers? that wire is not easy to get too.. but if it was working fine before...?

Just test the circuit like interpon stated above. Does your purple wire have a round rubber boot on it?
doesn’t have a rubber boot more like a plastic connector but I plugged it in anyway and it worked. No idea how the heck I unplugged it. Thanks to all
Interesting on the no boot. Here is what I have on mine. This plugs directly onto the fam motor that has the round housing on it. Like the one in your picture.
