Can you drive the vehicle?
If so, another option might be to call a small-town or family run GM dealership and ask the parts guy if they have the tool below (or one of the simillar variants) and what they would charge to replace the bushing? They probably have a chart that will tell them what tool will work. It's a 20 min job ...and that includes removing and installing the driveshaft. But I understand if you want to do it yourself. That's how I am. Or if you can't drive the car, stop down and talk to the parts guy. Tell them your situation. Ask if you buy the bushing (and seal) from him (and future other parts) if you can borrow their tool (use a CC# as a deposit). Let him make a few bucks on the sale. Then return it right away. My dealership actually offered to let me borrow the tool. But take it back asap and you'll be in their good graces. Can't hurt.
So for you guys that run into this, you can just push it in with what ever method you choose.
the old bushing will just freewheel on the shaft.
I did it and then decided to do some clutch work so while I had the trans out I pulled the tail shaft and the old bushing was just floating there minding its Own business.
