always use a stethoscope or a screwdriver stuck in your ear before taking things apart. Best not to waste your time just blindly attacking your motor

Take your belts off one at a time to try to isolate the problem.

Thank you guys for the help I also got a better video that shows the problem It looks like the thing in the front right isn't spinning and the belt is just being pulled around it.

Didn't need to stick a screwdriver in my ear to figure that one out. I think it's safe to say your compressor is seized.

Lol
op

do not run until
pull those wires off compressor and seeif it smooths out...
if still seized removethat belt...take some pics of your engine / belts..

if lazy and assume belt shot...just cut it out unless removing wires fixes it.
the wires engage the clutch on the compressor if on and you have freon.

And try it

my guess is that you had the ac on inside the car?
that wire powers the clutch to engage compressor...
you have a nice original car...
my guess is unless the ac was converted you have a system that still has freon..maybe r12 or not..or who knows...
My guess is your compressor is seized.

edit....told ya...you are me two years ago identical cars lol..here ya go

@interpon So does the compressor unplugged just affect the ac in the car? Also, the whole car is original the only thing ever done to it was tires once and the engine got new seals in 96.

the clutch freewheels on the compressor when unhooked or shut off. you can see the clutch engage and force the compressor to go about 1/4 turn before it locks up and squeals. you should be ok as long as you do not run the ac.

yes only ac compressor.

add it to your list to get to when you prioritize projects.

tape the connector away safe

keep your eye out for r-12 if you decide to go that route.. i'm betting yours still was running it..i scored 7 pounds in central indiana..just keep eye out..or you may decide to convert.. another project when you get to it.. also post some more pics as needed!! don't be shy, many keen eyes on this site and helpful..

What's a pound go for these days. I have just shy of 10lb. When I bought it I paid $2.97 per 12 oz can. Not looking to sell as I have my own 1980 with with an inop AC, but as it's way down the priority list it will be some time before I get to it. The only question is heater core or AC first.
