Slow progress. But ring gear is on.
Each bolt had to be custom trimmed and measured. Roughly .060" shorter. Bolts are still longer than GM and 30% stronger! Each bolt measured like this. This height needed to be LESS than the flange thickness

Nice work. Fwiw, I fitted ARPs to a 3.36 gear without any problems - diff has done a lot of street and competition miles over several years before I pulled it to swap for a 3.7 - which I also rebuilt with ARP bolts without issue. The 3.36 is still sitting on the shelf as a spare. Good catch on your part, a combination of factors I suspect as you say.
