Default C3 Corvette Reverse Light Switch Plug

Trying to get my reverse lights working and a previous owner appears to have done some kind of "delete" and just removed the wires entirely from the cabin to the switch on the tranny.

Can someone shine some light on where the C3 reverse light switch plug wiring goes under the dash? I know it's "supposed" to be hanging just inside the engine bay, but that grommet is missing and that plug is not there. I have wormed my way up under my dash and dug around for a while and saw nothing unplugged or a "separate" light green or pink wire. I traced the light green wire out from the rear of the car up along the driver side door up into the kick panel and see where it goes into the main plug then comes out on the other side and disappears into a harness but I can't trace it once it goes into the main harness loom.

The tranny side has no wires at all. A previous owner just ripped them off the switch and moved on. I've tested the switch and it still works.

I've read up in a couple of books I have that show the actual current comes in on the pink wire from the hot side of the flasher for the turn signals, but I'm reaching the end of my ability to contort myself to get up behind the fuse panel to try and trace a wire from there. I would have thought they'd have just pushed the plug back into the cabin, but that isn't looking to be true.

This picture is one provided in a previous thread years ago by user "Alan 71". I know I should be looking for the light green/pink plug in this photo, but I can't find it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

My wiring and plug was under the center console on my 68. THe previous owner never ran it through the fire wall. You may have to take the side panels off to look under there or lift up on the metal part of the center console to look under there.

If yours is a manual, The switch on the tranny s bolted to the outside of the tranny just in front of the reverse arm and is connected to it with a short linkage..the wiring should be permanently mounted to the switch with a really long pigtail. my pics may show the switch in backwards...I dont remember when I took them but I know there was a lot of experimentation to get it hooked up correctly

notice the small linkage arm its easy to get it backwards. I had to keep flippping the arm and the switch around to get it to operate correctly

the shield it there to keep rocks and dirt off the switch

I think this was tthe final and correct way that I had it mounted

Yeah I already removed the old switch on the tranny. There's just absolutely no wires on or near it. I'm trying to find the other end of the wiring so I know where to plug it in at.

Right I know where it SHOULD be, but it isn't there. As I mentioned in my post I got up under the dash and tried to see if it had been pushed back into the cabin but I can't find it. Was hoping someone could take a picture of where the wiring goes once it is inside the cabin.

As another member said....take a peek into the center console.....my '68 pink&green wiring is in there. My car was originally a manual trans. but the previous owner converted to an automatic and kindly left the wiring laying inside the console.
He must have re-routed it there to connect to the A.T. shifter reverse switch....which never happened.

Looks like this:

look around the drivers side bell housing. The wiring harness side is short so the switch wires run up to it. I'll snap a picture of there it is on my '71 when I get a chance unless someone beats me to it.

Some of you guys might have missed some of what I said. That picture was not mine. In my post I said that mine was nowhere to be found.

To those of you who told me to check out my center console, I did find that plug sitting under the wood bezel in my center console. I'm very curious what would have led a previous owner to re-route that thing all the way into the center console instead of just leaving it hanging under the dash. In any case, we're back in business once my new reverse switch comes in. Thank you guys for that suggestion! I would have never dug in there for it.
