Default Correct caliper mounting bolts

I have rebuilt my calipers and am going to mount them. I also purchased new caliper mounting bolts...just cuz...and trying to get things more correct.

From the reading I have done, I think it's clear that the mounting bolts for the front calipers are supposed to be longer than the mounting bolts for the rear calipers. Specifically, I think they are supposed to be 1-1/4" long for the front.

The set of bolts I purchased came and there are four bolts 1-1/4 long that are yellow zinc plated....and four bolts that are only 1" long that are black, not yellow. The label on the bag even specifically says the fonts should be yellow and the backs should be black. Anyone have an idea why this would be?

More importantly - Most of the reading I have found suggest the back bolts should be 1-1/8" long. The ones I received are only 1" long...and frankly, these feel too short when you account for the thickness of the split-lock washer.

So - what should the rear mounting bolts be? 1" long? 1-1/8" long? Yellow zinc plated, or black?

Thanks!

I just bought the Caliper mounting bolt from top flight auto. I’ll post how they are when they get here.

Have you thought to compare them to the ones you took out?

Yes... But as you can imagine, I'm finding lots on the car that isn't quite right, so I'm not sure how much I trust it?

Fair enough. although I'm certain mine are factory original. no good reason to take them out with everything else I'm working on now.

They are 7/16-20 x 1.125 shoulder bolts, too long and they may hit the rotor. They are the same as used for the TA flange Those pictured are not as original, they might be the right thread but no shoulder to them. Will they work, yes they will, would I use them - no.

The front and rear caliper mounting bolts are 7/16"x20x1-1/8". Grade 8. Very hard to find a 1-1/8" length 1" or 1-1/4" is easy below is what Corvette Central sells which is close but I think they 1" length.

My Bubba emptied out his spare bolt coffee can. My rear calipers had two different lengths and were only grade 4.

So it seems the consensus is the correct length for the rear is 1-1/8. I'm still not clear on why the different finish between front and rear. I understand the concern about the bolt being too long. Does anyone else feel squirmy about it only being 1" long (too short)?

Original finish front or rear were Black Oxide. The gold/yellow finish is a current way to highlight a grade 8 bolt. As for length the 1" should be fine I would not have any concerns.

what if you leave the lock washer off? i don't recall seeing a split lock washer on any caliper bolt ever. and i think the different color is to say which goes where.

Thx - that would certainly save a little space and give more thread engagement. But I think every corvette parts retailer shows their kit as containing these split lock washers.
