Default 1975 Voltage Capacitor Mounted To Steering Column

Hey! I apologize if this has already been spoken about. But I've been searching for a long time and havent been able to find any answers anywhere on google.

I just re wired my 75 and while I was removing the old harness I snapped the wire on this capacitor, but I have no idea where I can buy a replacement for it.

Ive been searching for months. all I can find are female or other connection types but I've yet to find the capacitor with a Male connector to plug into the brown wire under the steering column.

Thanks for your help!

Here is a 5MF capacitor/condenser but the F/M (LOOKS LIKE F/M) crimp connector would need to be changed to a Male.
You already have the Male housing you would just need the crimp terminal.

Those capacitors were merely 'noise suppression' devices to eliminate electrical spike noises in your radio output whenever any kind of switch contact or pulsed voltage condition occurred in the power lines of your car. If you no longer have the original Delco radio head...or if you don't care about the occasional 'pop' in the radio signal, just eliminate it. The capacitor on your alternator and your ignition coil may be necessary....IF you have a buzzing in your radio's output. If not, you don't need any noise suppression. Modern radios have their own noise suppression systems internally.

Unless you are listening to AM radio- you won't miss it.

The vettes were prone to RFI ( radio Frequency interference) the problem stemming for the fiberglass did not act as a Faraday cage like the steel cars.Using capacitor across a contact ( Ignition switch/brake switch- couple examples) slows down the rapid change in current/ and or arcing when the contact is opened/closed.
The slowed change in current through the connection results in a weaker magnetic field around the conductor and therefore less radiated interference.

Vettes used the metal shielding around the ignition wires to eliminate that source of noise- but with new designed sparkplugs and wires that issue is greatly eliminated.
