So I have no clue what happened but something must have caught fire right under my alternator or on my brake lines while I was driving.
I started smelling burning rubber and saw some smoke then my brakes just disappeared but I still had clutch vacuum. Then the “BRAKE” light came up and I was able to pump brakes back to actually stop but when I got home I had a part of my wheel well just white and you can easily push through it with your finger.
basically whatever was next to cyl. 1 got melted and I guess this is the proportion valve for the brake system.
is it better to just remove what I have here and replace with new lines and an aftermarket valve setup or should stock replacements be best here? I have stock disc brakes all around.
I'm guessing a wire shorted out against the brake line and melted a hole in it/leaking brake fluid may have made the problem worse....it's amazing the car didn't burn completely.
I ALWAYS keep a good fire extinguisher in each vehicle I own where I can easily grab it in case I am trapped inside the car....or someone else's car catches fire.
DON'T DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL EVERYTHING IS REPAIRED:
Buy replacement parts from Corvette Venders so everything new fits properly.
The distribution block may be ruined internally/melted o=rings. You can dissassemble it to verify damage
Those brake lines need replacing.
Cut off the burned wiring ONE WIRE AT A TIME (so you don't accidentally solder two mismatched wires together) and solder new color-coded wire to the unburned ends.
RE-ROUTE all the repaired wires so this doesn't happen again.

WOW you got lucky you didnt lose the car or your life. Door Gunner is spot on. YOu may need to find an old wiring harness to ge the correct electrical fittings. THere was a proportioning valve thread on here the other day, there should be e vendor on there.
The only way that could happen is if that 'signal' wire got 12 volts [un-fused] going to it. Not sure how that could happen, but the result was a dead-short of 12 volts going to that distribution block and grounding out [electrically]. Trace that wire back and see if there is not some means of a 'hot' wire crossing paths with it.
@Adollarwodbnice I have the proportioning valve switch connector with of length of wire connected to it that I cut off an old harness. It's yours free-of-charge if you want it. If so, PM me your address and I'll get it on the way to you.

THANK YOU! I’ll trace it back and peel back some of the wire to see what I need. I’m guessing some of it is alternator wires and maybe an O2 sensor. I think temp sensor is on the opposite side of the engine. Sensor is definitely ok or looks ok but the wire was melted all the way to the plug that slips on the sensor.
I don't know if you're following the USPS tracking, but this is ridiculous! The package with your wire connector went from Richmond (my area) to NJ (your area); but then instead of being delivered to you, it has inexplicably taken a side trip to (at current count) THREE (!) different USPS centers in Illinois!
Sorry for the delay, man! I hope it eventually reaches you and doesn't get lost!
