Hey guys,
I just got my tri power the other day and looking it over I noticed what looks like a metal strip that.goea from 10 to 90 with appera to be a punch mark on the number 30, does this have any meaning that you are aware of? I don't think it's a date code but that is why I am asking.

It's not a metal strip. It's part of the casting. An embossed ID strip was placed on the mold to create the numbers on the casting, and it was used to identify work centers that had done work on the part. It's a production tracking tool, and has no date code or other significance. The guy at work center 30 did some work on the manifold.

Thanks Lars, that's all I needed to know.
Does anyone by chance know the difference between a tri power for an automatic car and a manual car?

The center carbs had different list numbers for auto versus 4-speed application, which covered the fact that the 4-speed center carbs were jetted 2 sizes richer than the auto carbs.

Good point - that's correct. In order to maintain a reasonable idle quality in "drive," the "neutral" idle speed ended up being so high that there was a run-on problem upon engine shutdown (run-on after shutdown is primarily caused by excessive throttle plate opening - "idle speed" - at shutdown). This was solved by installing the idle solenoid on the automatic cars, which closed the throttle blades when the ignition was shut off. Thanks for pointing that out - very good factual info.

Automatic Tri-power center carb had an idle solenoid with bracket
that's a pretty clever little solenoid, thankfully I don't need one but it makes me onder if this tripower was swapped out in favor of a traditional 4 barrel carb would/could have this solenoid have been reused with the 4 barrel carb?
Small detail, In addition to this idle solenoid bracket, you need a little flat metal strip like fitting that screws onto the center carb. The soilenoid pushes on this to open the center carb plates a little for the faster idle. Spent about an hour yesterday in panic trying to find this little gizmo. Success.
