Default sparkplug gap question

what gap should I use on a 69 smallblock with stock distributor and Petronix module? Does a wider gap mean more spark? Think I have it at 035 now and plugs seem a little gas fouled. Thanks Telk

My guess, .40 or .45 probably wouldn't hurt.

.45 is pretty common on the Big blocks.

What part of the Bayou State are you from, just outside of Lafayette here.

If you want a little more fire you can open them up to .50. The wider the gap the more spark, but less spark plug life. The narrow gap is the opposite. This is all within reason of course.

.35 is correct. If you are fouling, I would say it's most likely a carb issue (too rich). Wider gaps are used with HEI, but are more likely to be problematic without HEI.

With petronix and hotter coil it says use .045. That's what mine are at.

You are correct - but he said Pertronix MODULE - not coil. With the stock coil, .35 is the ticket.
