Nice job but I will mention one more thing. Some people wrap their exhaust in that area while others put in an aluminum shield. They were once available pre-drilled, I don't know the story now. Some have also said there never was a heat problem and didn't need anything.
Myself, I made my own shield extra wide and added some brackets to support my exhaust in that area. Each to his own, here's my setup. By the way I have had this spring for at least 25 years, same 330 as yours I think. It was a fantastic improvement over the steel spring. I never saw that insulating pad break down either.
The over-arched spring was the TRW. I threw that one away.
I just used header wrap. Been on there forever and works good.
I have Thermo Tec wrap I am going to install on the exhaust. I also bought two of their heat shield wraps to put on the spring. I am trying to get the car put together enough to put the body on sometime this fall.
A buddy of mine is building a 85 for a performance street car. He told me about a 73 Rotche of a Car that another buddy got for free because the scrapyard didn't want fiberglass. They wanted me to have a look cause it had some unusual suspension. Today we unbolted both the front and rear VB&P Transverse Spring set ups along with the Sway Bars and A-Arms. Wile we were at it we took the trailing arms as the Bolts popped right out and poly bushings had been installed so we figured the Bearings had probably been replaced. All the Parts will need to be blasted and powder coated but it was a fun day. They were surprised I knew every wrench size as I have all these parts on my car. I sure hope Van Steel can produce the Springs again.
