Use some of the thin throw away cutting boards and lay some Mat and Resin maybe two layers thick. Wait till it sets up and peel it off the cutting board cause it cant stick to it. Grind out the hole and test fit your new piece. Then cut a hole and test fit the Metal part with the 2 Screws. How are the Screws attached ? Some Sheet Metal or Nuts could be attached underneath wile its still loose. Once You happy with how everything fits Duct Tape 2 corners to hold it in place/ Lay a thin layer of Fiberglass across the remaining corners. Once it has set up remove the Duct Tape and lay a couple of layers across the whole thing. Wait overnight and sand it smooth and it will look like it never even happened. Never use Woven Mat. add some Black Color to the Resin, it will dry jet black but when sanded will turn dark grey just like the OEM fiberglass. Its available from Amazon. This sounds like a very long and time consuming process. Probably 6 hours start to finish with 5 of the hours waiting drying time when You can be doing something else.
This helps heaps thank you! The Resistor is already attatched to a small fiberglass plate that has two holes for screws to go through there's a small Crack in it too might just use some jb weld for that.
how do I know if it's mat or woven mat? I already have some fiberglass cloth to use with some resin, both are bondo brand, its all that Lowes had for fiberglass.
If your broken off piece of fiberglass fits back in place, even if shattered, some fresh crazy glue will stick it right back in place. Use the runny stuff to put it together and the gel for any remaining gaps. Adheres very well to fiberglass/resin.
Still haven't done anything yet, been putting the rest of the car together, so close to having this Eng/Tran swap completed. Playing puzzle with the pieces isn't a bad idea either, I don't think I would use glue though I would feel like it would just melt right off given how hot it gets there.
Crazy glue is cyanoacrylate, it is composed of acrylic monomer, it bonds molecularly to other plastic, like fiberglass. Once set it will burn before it melts. Always use fresh glue and use an accelerator if you want to build up material.
