Hey all, Mirror is lose and over 40mph is lowers down. Someone told me work super glue into it but I'm thinking that may be a permanent fix or when adjusted it would just break lose. Any suggestions without having to replace the mirror? Appreciate it!!!
You can find how to restore the mirror. I did mine and it works fine now. Start by soaking it in gas to remove the glass. Is a good DIY. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTxlL_NJ4SI

I saw all of the methods of removing the glass and fixing the inside of the mirror, but came up with my own fix which takes about 2 minutes which includes getting tools. Get a sharp center punch and a small tack hammer and then tip the mirror to several of its extreme positions and make a mark with the center punch in several of these positions. Do not hit it hard, you only want to make a small mark on the mounting ball. You do not have to take the mirror assembly off of the door.
I did this several years ago and it is still working fine

Obviously not a permanent solution or correct solution but the super glue does work - not that it glues it into position it just gives the ball more thickness to tighten it up in the socket. Make sure you do not drip the superglue anywhere......
I tried to repair mine per the suggestions on the Forum but it did not work out. First I broke the nub off of the base, then I broke the glass. Not a great showing for someone who makes a living doing home renovations and handyman work. I'm going with the fact that it must have been a cheap replacement part and was doomed from the beginning. I ordered a new one from Southern car parts and it is tight as can be. The part was less than $60 including shipping and tax. Considerably less then the value of my time spent messing with the first one.MIRROR
