I got some Van Steel offset trailing arms and QA1 coil-overs I plan to install this winter. I have some 15" wheels and I am considering having them widened. What width and offset are you guys running with your offset arms? This is a '74 stock fenders.
I have 15x10 with an effective backset of 5 inches. Tires are MT 295 55 15 drag radials,....They do not rub, but stick out about an inch past the fender. Some might not like that. I tried to pull the tire in more, but the tire hits the frame at the T-arm pocket.
If you want it all under the fender I think you can run 9 inch wide and 4 1/2 inch backset wheels,....tires maybe 275 60, or 255 60.
I had already replaced the spring with a custom length 440 lb fiberglass spring and offset the spring bolts, so that clearance issue was out of the way. A local shop quoted me $1000 to cut and weld the frame for clearance. In my mind I would only gain 1/2 inch max tire relocation inboard, and the tires would still poke out 1/2 inch. Not worth it to me, and the fact I'd be cutting the frame in the worst possible location. I have 500 plus horse power, and to weaken the frame there was not an option I was willing to consider.

Not the exact question; I have stock trailing arms. I had my aluminum "pace car" style wheels widened to 9-1/2", the additional 1-1/2" to the inside. I used a 1/2" thick hub concentric spacer. I had a 275 tire on this combo and it tucked up under the fender nicely and cleared the trailing arm and frame. From memory I would say the frame and the trailing arm had nearly the same clearance to the tire.
My 72 has stock fenders, VB&P offset trailing arms, and 17 x 9.5 wheels with a 5.05 backspace.
They look and fit very well. The outside edges of the tires are pushed out about as far as they can go without hitting the fenders under extreme suspension travel.
