Nice info here. I put a "Long" brand shifter in mine, shifts great and I never even adjusted it, just put the adjusters approximately in the middle. I am going to try Rescue Roger's advice and see if it is even better.

If the bushings are tight, adjusted properly you can drive it for yrs without issues.
I found my Muncies to be super reliable, preferred the hurst esp the super shifter.
Never was notchy like some of todays toploader type trans can be. Drives me nuts sometimes
