I removed my trailing arms 5 weeks ago because I had noticed, with the rear jacked up, both tires would rock a little when pulling at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions. I was trying to evaluate options for upgrading the outer axles during the rebuilding. Most of that is in the thread linked below.
I decided on Bairs, in PA, to do the rebuilding. They offered to disassemble the arms and check the components while I watched if I wanted to deliver them in person. That's what I did and I watched as they checked the axle splines, the axles themselves and the bare trailing arms for straightness. No problems were noted. I decided to reuse my original axles because there is really no direct replacement, 17 spline axle that is clearly superior to my axles which have withstood years of abuse and still appear good.
They shipped the arms back to me in a week. I reinstalled them, using the same stainless steel shims on the front of the arms that were there before. I took the car out for a test drive today and aside from a small brake fluid leak, all is well. After the winter I will get the wheels aligned but it appears to be tracking straight as is.
I love Bairs! They have done rears, trailing arms, halfshafts and a bunch of other stuff for me. I’m sending two rears to them this week to be rebuilt.

Yeah they do great work. Old school style business.
Are you saying that from all your drag racing that the outer splines were not rotated?
Because my original 79 had rotated one whole spline. It actually scared me when I saw them. I went with Tom's outers to match up with my super yokes
Yep. There was no visible twist in the splines and when they put the female spline tester on them it slid right down each one. It is amazing but even with 1.70 sixty foot times I guess the automatic cushions them enough.
Good to see smaller companies like that are still around. Maybe no cheap chinese knockoffs out there?
Curious what that sets one back to have those redone.

They normally get $425 per side. Mine were 395 because I didn't want the rotors rivitted on.

I will be bringing a C3 into my garage shortly. I think Bairs will get the trailing arms and front control arms for a rebuild. That is quite a ride to deliver them for you. I was thinking of dropping off also but its 7 hours for me. I have always heard their service is top notch. Good to hear another good review.

Glad to hear you're still working on C3s. Bairs has done my diff rebuild (the first time), power steering pump and steering box rebuilds too. I was never there before. It's about 5 1/2 hour ride for me since I'm not too far from Rt 80. I got the grand tour from Mike, the owner. He is not a Bair, but Brian Bair is still there. Mike has been there since the 70s and he wants to continue the business like it always has been. That was good to hear.

Mine were destroyed from a 355 ci and slicks doing low 12's like 12.06 for a couple of seasons. th350 also shifted hard enough to eventually blowing chunks of metal in the pan which made me get the 700R4
Bairs probably made it look easy, but I consider trailing arm rebuilds a PITA
