Found my receipt in emails:
They are louder but much better sounding (in my opinion).

Thanks, I see they also have a 2.5 louvered with wrap. I find it amazing nobody has done a decibel comparison of all the different types at idle and highway rpms.

I put Dougs ceramic coated side headers on my former 78. Used the medium baffle. It sounded fantastic both with the stock L48 and also when I put in a crate engine. Was not too loud at all.

78 automatics had 3.55 rear gears....look under the pumpkin at the last digits of the serial number stamped there...should end in OH
If you car seems to be unmolested....it'll be 3.55's
Additionally, 60 mph should be right about 2700 RPM on a straight/ flat road with steady throttle.
22 mph per 1000 RPM. (slush box) = 80% of production in 78

I've owned 2 78s and they were both 3.08s from the factory.

They must have been manuals! 3.08 was optional.
NOT on automatics where it was mandatory.

Nope automatics. L-48s. I think maybe 3.55 was standard in L-82s and L48 California models.
