My Performance Shielded Wire Solution for a 427
I had a dilemma on my hands with my spark plug wires. I wanted the stock look, but with performance wires. After talking to the manufacturer of the stock repo shielded wires, they cannot handle a high voltage coil with an electronic ignition - "It'll burn them up". I'm running a Pertronix Ignitor 3 and Blaster 2 coil. So I started looking at shielded aftermarket wires, and could not find any that would fit the old points style cap and rotor for a 427. (There used to be several available including Accel and the Full Metal Jacket wires.) The only ones I could find available right now for the 427 are Taylor SST wires, but they are fitted and for an HEI. Then I discovered that MSD makes a points style HEI terminal cap and rotor. So I got the SST wires from Speedway and the MSD cap #84333 and rotor #8467 from Jegs. Everything fits under the factory shielding housing. They still have to be grounded and I'm not a fan of the blue boots, wish they were black! But the look is "close enough" for me.
