I have a M22 that I have had for 15 years and its stuck I cannot turn the Tail Shaft when in Neutral. I was rebuilt and all the Gears look great and Syncros look to be new. So with the Side cover off and the Forks removed I can shift threw all 4 Gears and Reverse. (nothing turning) But when everything is in neutral, I cannot turn the Tail Shaft. In the AM I will remove the Trans and see what happens when I turn the Input Shaft. This Trans has never been run since rebuilt. The Tail shaft will Giggle a bit telling me that the shafts are not froze up. Something is clicking and fells like the clearance between Gears. Its got to be something stupid wrong right in front of me ???
Well you already know sitting for 15 years isn't the best thing for it. Could just be a bit stiff? Could be a rusted bearing.
Well, you should know more once it's out.
True enough that with a little force one might get it to turn again. However if there is surface rust/pitting on a bearing.
It won't be long for this world.
I would remove the side cover before jumping on it with a 24" wrench. It if's locked up I would make sure reverse is not engaged, if the sliders are in neutral and it doesn't move then you should take it apart. I have seen rebuilt trans, sitting for years outside, with bad bearings.
Simple Fix. The reverse Paw was not engaged. With the Detent Ball working it " Felt" like it was going in and out of Reverse, but it was not. In other words, it was in Reverse and until I freed it from the Engine, I could not tell why it would not spin. Thanx to all of the above I am moving forward again in more ways than one.
