Greetings,
I have it also an would like to know as well. I believe one item is the spare tire light which I have but don't know how its activated.......
The spare tire light is part of the courtesy light circuit.
When either LH or RH or both doors are opened, ALL courtesy lamps are grounded and will/should come on.
Orange wire circuit #140 and White wire circuit #156
This is a rear harness from a 1977 same circuit numbers and wire colors on a 1979.
Notice the socket wire colors are Orange and White, different then the License Plate light that are Brown and Black.
Not 100% sure but turning headlight switch full CCW will also ground the courtesy light circuit...

Reason: Added Headlight Switch full CCW
On my 77 I have the old style capacitor style courtesy light delay timer.
When the door(s) close the spare tire light stays on until the delay timer times out...

Yes, most likely the same kind of lamp housing used for your license plate, is also used underneath the car up under the backside of the rear bumper. Crawl under the rear end of your car with a flashlight....you'll see it, or maybe the bulb still works, could try turning it on👍
