Called isky cams today was going to ask a question gal on the phone said call a different time could not do that today. I'm just a solid flat tappet person but I wonder if a custom flat tappet cam can be made for the gen 1 sbc but using the newer LS firing order. My understanding is the newer firing order is easier on the crankshaft, bearings and main webs of the cylinder block.

I just looked up the order. I know most custom cams are cut off of a lrger existing cam. I think to do that would be really custom and be very expensive
It's a 3/2 and 4/7 swap cam. I've seen a few guys running those cams in traditional SBCs, but I haven't personally run one. They're out there, and if you want one you should be able to grab one no problem.
It's the same firing order on Ford 302HOs, 351W, 351C, and I believe the 400. I think they used it on the Mod motors too.
I think cadillac first used the firing order then as you say several fords used it. Unless it's over priced to do it., will do it based on it is supposed to be easier on torsionial twist on the crank, easier on the bearings.
used in the boat world some to get 5 and 7 not firing together. very few real headers in boats. and they like to run a lot longer at heavy throttle. cars at that rpm and throttle setting are on a speedway oval.
The 5 7 swap is to mitigate heat in that rear corner of the engine .. As you know 18436572 Causes 5 and 7 to fire off one before the other .. Not needed if your not super charging or using nos for high HP by high I mean 700 and up ...
