Default 1980 Lighted Vanity Mirror

Hi

The flip up door on the passenger lighted visor mirror has a broken hinge. Does anyone know how the mirror assembly is attached to the visor? I don’t want to pry on it too hard and ruin the visor. It almost sounds like it’s attached with velcro when I put some pressure on it.

Thanks

jim

Look at Keens Part list you'll see two clear bushing that look to me like they "pop out" from the visor. just my opinion.

Hope this helps

Use Google and ask your question. For exampe: How to replace a vanity mirror on a 1980 C3 Corvette ? I always use C3 Corvette as it tends to pull up a lot of Corvetteforum material.
Btw, it would be good money spent buying a 1980 AIM manual : https://willcoxcorvette.com/corvette...cd-format-2642
Use Willcoxcorvette.com for tech information also Zip-Corvette.com
Good luck.

The replacement mirrors are really bad flimsy just like the originals. You can buy a plain visor to replace the mirror type visor and just drive on. NCRS cars might want to keep it I suppose.

Well cr@p! I guess there’s no choice now. I just ordered a replacement from Zip-Corvette.

Are you going to reuse the 2 clear plastic mounting bushings? If the teeth have cracked and fallen off you will need new ones.

Just for giggles Jim I wonder if you were to take and swipe the plastic snap style bushing(s) with a tiny bit of Clear Silicone Plumbers grease (any hardware store) around the edge if it would allow for the mirror to be removed a little easier "if" it ever needs to be done.
Just a thought.

So my new lighted mirror showed up today. Do I need to remove the glove box to access the connector?

Thanks

Yes. Pull the light and then the box. You need to run the wire behind the pillar post cover trim.
