Funny, this remove hood question made me think of why it is such a big deal, the I realize marking it for re-install is the biggest issue. Then I though about easy ways to mark it and spray powder comes to mind. Anyone know of a good spray powder that will leave clear marks, and wash away with water?
You can scribe the hinge location with a hobby knife.
There was a story on here about a guy who removed his hood had it leaning against something in his garage. A wind gust grabbed it and away it went down the driveway leaving paint marks in it's path.
Make sure you have a safe place to store it while it is off...
