Only one sensor for the gauge, the cylinder head.
Do you have the sensor for the engine fan somewhere else?
Do you have a factory service manual to refer to?

I think I saw on one of my earlier post, that someone said I can switch to intake, but curious where at,I do have two holes, one for the water temperature sensor, and one for heater hole,is there another hole somewhere I can use? This,I have assuming that is heater hose that runs to water pump. I have to replace the waterneck to upright to put my temperature sensor there.so,where could you put another sensor?
I have the 64 cc E street heads and we were able to put the temp sensor with no problems.
Well,I don’t even see your sensor,so,I’m sure you’re radiator hose is on top of it,and I’m also assuming you’re hole is 1/2 which my hole is 1/2,but once again my sensor is 3/8,so have to have a reducer from 1/2 to 3/8 which makes it over 2 inches tall.
I keep hearing people say they have this same set up with no problems, and I say IT WILL NOT WORK. And I have the assembly manual and it shows 2 temp sensors.
If I didn’t have the reducer screwed in the intake,I could probably make it work, and for the time being will put a plug in it till I fire it up,and go from there.

Who says they have the same setup? I have a sensor mounted there but as you can clearly see from the picture I provided the sensor I have there is my coolant temp sensor which is completely different than that giant tall thing, whatever it is? you have mounted in this picture.. Its possible, likely even that if you have a year car that has the electric aux fan for the ac that this is the temp switch to control the fan.. It does look like the fan switch sensor I had to replace twice on my old 84 C4...

Here is a better picture of sensor on E street heads. I think we have the same one.
Yea,that’s on the drivers side head, and has one pronge,I had to trim my header flange a little but got it in the head,I think it’s a green and black wire connected to it.and I think the one on the intake, might be for temperature for fan maybe.I will post a picture of the wire to connect to it,it has a plug type where you squeeze the sides to put on and take off, will get picture today, maybe that will help exactly what it’s for. Thanks everyone.

The fan in your picture is a mechnical fan though theres no electric sensor for that, do you have a second electric auxilary fan? if so I can almost guarantee thats what its for. You can always swap the two temp sensors around if you can rewire to reach. the shorter sensor will look better in the intake and be less intrusive.
It’s was on my stock intake,so not sure if I need it or not,but I do have a assembly manual, and it’s showing two .
Unless you understand the purpose of the sensor it's pointless to install it.
You need the factory service manual not the AIM to understand it's purpose.
On my wire diagram it shows a engine temp sw,and temp sw I think it shows on the intake, and then oil temp sw. but pictures will describe it better.
An oil temperature sensor does not go into an intake manifold or a coolant passage in a cylinder head. You have one too many sensors related to coolant for an engine that no longer uses emissions devices.
Again you need the factory service manual to understand the function of the sensor.
