how did I shape the screen? can't remember, 10yrs ago, but nothing sophisticated, stone-age tech, probably just the odd piece of wood, the big 8" jawed vise, and a honkin' rubber mallet. IIRC, the oval pieces started off as 5" SS exhaust tubing.
Ok. And I'm assuming that the nuts on the backend are holding it on along with some epoxy around the edges where the screen touches the fiberglass. Really clean work.

The SS oval, actual vent, is welded to the back side of the front face. there's a SS threaded rod (actually a long countersunk screw) welded onto the back of the front face on both sides of the oval. goes through a hole adjacent to the vent opening. rubber gasket glued on the back of the front face. on the underside of the hood, there's a small SS clamping plate that goes on the stud, with a SS nyloc nut, that holds the front plate/vent assy to the hood. there's a small square of rubber foam gasket under the clamping plate, just because i already had the stuff. then the SS mesh, with another nyloc nut to hold that in-place over the vent opening.

I added two louvers in the hood when I added my scoop. They do let hot air out.
Looks good! - a C2 big block-style scoop? May I ask why you added the louvers as opposed to just cutting a single large opening under the scoop? Was it to keep water out in the event you were caught in the a heavy rain while driving?

I didn't want to compromise too much of the structural integrity of the hood. But yeah, probably could have cut a big *** hole!
