I'm trying to replace the steering column on my 1968 Corvette with a Flaming River model FR2103VTBK. It is supposed to be made for my year but the shaft seems to be about two inches too long. Has anyone else ever encountered this and / or have ideas on how to solve? I actually tried the Ididit model as well and it would not line up either. Appreciate any ideas.
I have an Ididit on my 68. I didn't install it but it seems to fit ok. I believe it still had the original manual steering box and the firewall seemed original.
Are you sure everything on that side of your car is original?
Thanks for the response. I havent owned the car very long so unfortunately I'm not sure what is original. I'm just not sure where to go from here. The old column came apart in my hands as I removed it. I think I'm going to have to do somthing custom now.
You can order an Ididit any length you want. I would do some serious measuring before ordering one, I don't think you can return a custom column.
Take some pictures of the old one and the steering box.

Nothing is original, as I’m finding out on this car
but I’m not a original kind of car guy. Restomod
so with a lot of patience and many f this and f that, good help from my son and 3 cuts on the shaft . With the borgeson gear box and rag joint . Got it to fit, nuts on . Just got to drill for the roll pins . The rest so fall into place.
