Hello, I was wondering what heads/cam y'all would recommend for a stock L81. I am only thinking about doing this because my stock ones are cracked. I figure while I'm at it, I might as well get a mild bump in hp/tq. I want to keep the stock manifold, carb, and air cleaner along with the stock exhaust manifolds/system. Like I said, I know this won't be optimum, I just like the all factory look. My thinking on heads is to bump the compression up a bit and run premium fuel...? I'd like to get @250+ HP and @300+ TQ and keep the motor looking stock. I freely admit I'm new at this and feel free to tell me if I'm dreaming! Thanks!
Oops, I did not know there was an L81. At 280 ft lbs stock, I'd say it would be possible to get up to 300 with just heads and a cam, even when you choke it up with the stock manifolds.
I really like those new Trick Flow 175cc Double hump heads. Installing those with a cam around 218 degrees duration at .050 and you will have a nice bump in power that is still fun to drive.

Since you want to maintain a stock appearance, I assume you want to use a steel head with drilled ends for your accessories. I would point you towards a Dart Iron Eagle, 180CC head that has an advertised 64cc chamber. These are a nice upgrade from factory. The smaller chamber will bump your compression slightly as well and work better with your low-compression, 4 valve relief flat top pistons. These heads will still use a 1204 intake gasket and a 1404 exhaust, so all your current externals will bolt on fine. I use a lot of Dart IE's in dirt racing engines that require a steel 23-degree head. (much larger runner and more modified of course).
