During disassembly of my lower console I managed to snap off the small tab that locks the temperature control cable sheath into the HVAC control module. 42 year old plastic and I should have known better.
Short of buying an entirely new control module because of that one problem, is there another way to reattach the cable to the controller? I have done a quick look and while the lever itself appears available, this would be a bit more internal to the controller itself, so I don't think anyone offers that, or I simply haven't looked under the correct part name...yet.
Thanks!
This tab was in the square-ish hole locking the tab of the temp cable sheath to the control unit.
I had a all to similar issue with my 88 FIERO, as I didn’t want to buy a whole HVAC Control that would be over 30 years old. In my case I was able to take a tiny cable collar and use it to make the plastic clip (that was sprung) hold the end of the cable. From you picture, I would try to use some fairly thin metal that you could bend to a shape that would hold the cable sheath. You might need to venture to a pick a part salvage yard to find a suitable clamp. The good news is you can secure the new sheath clamp with a screw/nut where the hole is on the plastic.
Thanks. I thought the same with that unused hole in that area too. Just not sure that plastic is any less brittle than the rest of it. But, what do I have to lose at this point.
