Default New Tries

So, I need to get new rubbers for my 74 and Ive got 2 topics. My front size is 225/70R15 and my rear is 255/60R15. Made a post on facebook and they recommended the best ones (goodyear/goodrich/cooper).

1. Mentioned to someone that I'm not a fan of the White lettering so id probably flip them around and they said that that that would be a waste of money a I'd be paying for the "premium white letter blah blah". He's got a point about the cost of white lettering, but, I still want the tires to have that beefy Classic look. With that said, what does everyone think about Hankook tires? Anyone know if Hankook Kingery ST H735 will have the beef once installed?

2. My current wheels are staggered, a few of the comments said that I should buy the same size that way I can rotate them later. I like the beefy filled in look but longer life is always nice. I'm not worried about the performance aspect of staggered tires as its 48yo. Thoughts?

Edit,
Been informed rotating tires doesn't really matter as age is a bigger factor over miles. I'm going to get Vitour Galaxys R1 Radials! I don't plan on hitting 140 any time soon, but having tires that wont blow up if I do is certainly nice. They were about $80 cheaper than Goodrichs and about $50 more expensive than Coopers.

Your car looks great!
Tires and wheels are a personal choice, I like the raised white letters and had several brands.
Now I have Coopers 235/70/15 on the front and
255/60/15 in the rear.

Here are the Coopers I have now.

Tires last a long time so buy what you like.

Do you think I need to be thinking about tire rotations in the future? I'd like to be putting 3K+ miles on it a year, even though I've only put 3K on it in the last 2.
Heard any good/bad about Hankooks?

They'd get wore out from age before mileage, imo, so I wouldn't worry about it. I just sold 4 Goodyear Eagle II's that were over 20 yrs old, 90% thread though off the Vette I bought cause someone didn't buy the fact they wore out from age, so who knows.
I thought BFG's (been having a rep for brown lettering as of recent) and Coopers were the only choices, what model does GY make for our cars?

Upon searching Goodyears website by tire size (can't search by car model as it doesn't go to 74). Their current model is the Wrangler SR-A

That's a truck/SUV tire.
And only has the one 225 (no 255) size, not sure that's a valid option.

White letters or not….your choice and only you have to like it. Personally I prefer white letters…..especially on a classic but that’s my choice. At 3k per year you’ll replace due to age before ware…I wouldn’t worry about rotations. In fact, I personally dont rotate tires on our classics. staggered or not.

Yeah its funny how one comment made me over think it. I think I'ma just spend the extra 100ish and get Goodrich tires. I've read some negative things about Coopers, whether they're true or not is not up to me. So I'ma just stick with whats on it. I appreciate your knowledge.

Another option is Mickey Thompsons.

Here is a V rated 15” tire discussion. If I went back to my OEM wheels the Vitour Galaxy’s would definitely be purchased.

i just saw on Facebook that they only offer one size, so I gotta check that and see. If they offer the sizes I want. I’ll be getting them. I don’t plan on going 140, but having tires that can handle it is certainly a good idea. I like how their tread looks like tread and not just… blocks of rubber

thank you!!

Yeah he must've been on a bad link or something, I've got 2 P225/70R15 and 2 P255/60R15s on the way!! Only ran me $643 and some change, a bit cheaper than Goodrich but a bit more than Coopers so it works for me.

I would get them road force balanced. It’ a little bit more expensive but fantastic results.

The tread looks good, and I like the speed rating. Notta fan of the lettering, but definitely a great option for our C3's.

I'll be having the lettering put on the inside, not a fan of white on black on red, just black on red looks much better. I did like how the tread was more tread-y and not just blocks of rubber like most C3 tires.
