Had my Vette out yesterday and on the thruway cruising at 75-80mph and its got a bit of vibration at that speed. Faster it goes more vibration. There are no abnormal noises, grinding, humming, etc… For that reason I figure to get the wheels rebalanced and after inspection the U-joints to confirm my suspicion they’re original I’ll replace all 6.
Sound reasonable or am I missing something unique to a Corvette ?
I doubt it is wheel balance if it gets worse with more speed. You can usually play the vibration of wheel balance because it is stronger in a very short range.
Make sure the rear axle half shaft alignment is correct because they will vibrate when a new rear leaf has been installed that has an arch which brings the rear of the car up. I see many pictures of C3s which are way to high.
The tires are cooper cobras. Not the best but I’m going to get them rebalanced. The date stamp is from 2018 which is’t too bad.
The mags are REV made by Holley. Can’t imagine them being out of balance. I bought a set of factory ‘68 AG rally wheels that I’m going to repaint and mount a set of redline BFGoodrich redials from Coker on. They are pricey and though I’ve seen a few used sets for sale even though they were “like” new they were 6 years old or better and thats like rolling the dice. Coker is running a sale right now with free shipping and 10% off so I’m going to take advantage of that while I can.

The rear springs are original and the car was sagging when I brought it home. The bushings in the hangers were shot, a new set brought it to proper height.
I do sometimes hear a slight clunk in the left rear if I get on it hard. Is that a half shaft u-joint, a strut with a worn bushing ? I’ve got to get under there and give it a good inspection.
These are old vs new. Not sure how this would cause vibration though.
This was taken before I replaced the rear hanger bushings….
this was taken after i replaced them. May still need to be shimmed for more height.

check your rear snubber as well. It will give all sorts of different issues. If you can feel where the vibration is after the re-balance, rotate the wheels front to back and see if it moves with a tire
