Default 582 arrived!

Pretty cool my engine showed up on Saturday, Merry Christmas to me 😎

I am very impressed so far with this engine, everything looks tip top! It was packaged very well and looks amazing. The guys tuning it said that storm front from a week ago hurt the hp numbers

a the low pressure front moved in which is understandable. They got it dialed in and it still made pretty good power for a pump gas engine.

now I am just hammering away trying to wrap up some changes I been making. Got the crossmember cut and flanges installed so now it’s removable. Putting in a tilt wheel I snagged from a late C3. Making some wiring adjustments under the dash and hopefully have the engine ready to go in next week. I got PTC building me another converter for this setup since the old one was for a nitrous sbc

very much looking forward to having this thing back on the street. Should be fun!!!

It made 812hp and 761 foot pounds, should pick up another 10-15 with good air and broken in. Not that an additional 10-15 will even matter. It’s making 700 foot pounds at 4,000 rpm and pulls strong to 6,400…… keeping this thing straight and hooked up to the street is gonna be tricky but fun!

Awesome engine!
I’m curious,
What sort of front suspension do you have for that large of an engine?

stock suspension, I haven’t weighed it but it should be as much as an aluminum headed 454. Only maybe 100 pounds more than my small block.

I'm guessing this is with the taller block deck height. What about fitting this monster into the engine compartment? Do you have a PB vacuum canister clearance problem....assuming you have PB. I replaced the vacuum canister with a hydro boost on my 70 to avoid any possible problems with this canister. Will the taller deck height require custom headers if you don't use cast exhaust manifolds? Maybe more people will start installing these maga-sized BBs. Congratulations!

should not be any different than a standard BBC, everything should fit no problem. I just received my DeWitts radiator with dual electric fans. I think it will be close but should clear.

Thak you sir I am very excited. It’s a standard 9.80 deck height which is one main reason I chose this setup. It’s a 4.60” bore with 4.375” stroke. All dimensions should be the same as a standard BBC. Clearance was a concern going with cubes but this should slide right in. I dont run power brakes so no booster issues. I run side pipe headers so should have plenty of clearance under the car also. I’ll post up some pics when it’s sitting in the car.

that is still a big question mark, I’ll let you guys know once it’s in the car. I do run the aftermarket L-88 that goes all the way to the windshield

Yeah, very impressed with the DeWitts rad, it’s looks awesome! I’m sure this thing is gonna be fun, my uncle just dropped a 540 BBC in his ‘73 Camaro, it made right at 700hp. If feels awesome so my engine at another 100hp and 1,000 pounds lighter should tickle your spine!
