Ok. Went a different and changed my cam. The ones the cam is calling for are Melling 466224.I behave them but cannot find the retainers for them # 475064
the springs that are already in the motor are comp cam 911-1. In looking at the specs on them they seem very close. Can I keep the springs I have now or changes them. The first are the Melling springs
Thanks for the tip. I found them on e bay. From the same seller I e-mailed the other day. And as he told me before there were only 3 for sale. Seeing I have a V8 I’m in need of 16. So not much of use to me.
But thanks for your time

I would keep the comp cam springs. They look very close. Not worth the money to change them.
If you are worried about the slight difference in seat pressure, just shim them .032". But I wouldn't worry about it.
The Comps are likely the better spring.
Keep in mind the OEM BBC spring specs were only 95-115# closed and 310-350# open.

Oh! 3 I thought it meant 3 sets, not 3 total. But if you punch in that part number in general on the internet, they pop up with a lot of different outfits. I think their are plenty available out there.
If you don't think so, I would still buy one, so you can spec it out, the spring steps etc. to match to another potential brand. I did that with GM Performance 585 double spring units, as the GM Performance retainer is Aluminum, and I would never run that material. Thus was able to find an aftermarket retainer, by measuring the recommended one.

Keep the COMP springs. They will work fine. Not knowing your overall set up and RPM range goals I would venture an opinion that the lighter springs will perform slightly better, if noticeable at all. But, not to the extent you need to hunt them down and change the COMPS.
