Even if you could narrow it down by state - that would be a great start. At least you wouldn't have to open every record to see where people are located.
Re: [1969 Registry] -- Many Changes (Chris@VetteFinders)
I got the 1999 zipcode database free from Big Brother. :jester It seems pretty accurate, at least for what we're using it for.
I wrote the code today to compute the great circle distance between two zip codes (as the crow flies). It works quite well. With a little help from an outside source, I also got the "Find others within X distance" function working.
I just need to make it user friendly in order to put it on the site. I'll also need people that are interested in the function to edit their profiles to include their zip code.
More changes, in case you missed the edit to the intro post.
1) Stay logged in, just like the Corvette Forum!
2) Search for fellow '69 owners using zip codes, just like the Corvette Forum! (Sorry, only works for the USA).
3) Edit your user profile.
Y'all have a good weekend. I'm going to bed now, and finishing putting my engine back together tomorrow.
Nice site. One question: Are you trying to list original equipment on particular cars, or the way they're presently equipped? The reason I'm asking is that there seems to be only 1 L88 registered, yet there are 4 or 5 M22 transmissions. Since this was only available with the L88 and ZL1 options, it seems as though some people must be registering with current rather than original equipment.
