Default [1969 Registry] -- Many Changes

1969ers...

The new site is 90% up, enough that I could post it on the Forum and email you all. If you've emailed me a username/password combination already then you are set to go. Just go to the Registry and check it out.

Among the updates:

1) Recode of the entire website to improve your experience.
2) Restructuring of the database to improve data relationships.
3) Addition of photo capability. Link to your photo using the following format:
http://www.1969corvettes.com/images/users/33342.jpg
where the number is the last 5 digits of your VIN.
4) Dynamic statistics on registered cars.
5) The ability to register multiple cars per user.
6) The ability to edit your personal data and each car's data.
7) Enhanced security.
8) Hide your VIN if you want to.
9) Hide your email address if you want to (It's already encrypted).

10) Stay logged in
11) Member locator...find '69 owners close to you!

Coming soon:

1) "For Sale/Trade" and "Want To Buy" section.

Make recommendations, suggestions and comments please. If you haven't sent me a login/password pair and you were registered before 1 Jan 03, please email me. If you have a login/password, please ensure that your car is listed correctly in the database.

Thanks, and please continue to pass the knowledge of the Registry on...it makes it better for all of us!

Dave Henze :steering:

Please ensure that any bookmarks point to http://www.1969corvettes.com/ as the pages have changed.

Also, if you receive a "down for maintenance" message hit CTRL+F5 or hold the CTRL key down when you click REFRESH.

The CTRL+Refresh is a strange quirk of the servers Millenium Systems use...sometimes they cause our browsers to cache old pages and the CTRL key plus the Refresh command clears the page cache for that webpage...

GOOD JOB! Cold Fusion even. :)

How are you doing your pie charts? Looks like you are not using cfgraph.

It is a Java applet that gets its information from the database through ColdFusion. I think it will work for the time being, but I plan on replacing it with a better solution.

I really should learn how to use cfgraph...

cfgraph is simple, easy as "pie" ha ha.

Way easier than what you are already doing. Is your server running 5.0 or MX? I'll email you some code if you like. Hell, its in the cfdocs.

No translation needed. I have read LOTR 12 times, Silmarillion 5 times, The Hobbit 10, related works once or twice and took a college course on Tolkien

Hi,

I'm gettin the down for maintenance message on login and doesn't respond to ctrl refresh or ctrl F5. Any thoughts?

Also, the pie chart for engines doesn't show L36 but has two L46 categories, no doubt one is for L36.

Thanks for your help,
Joe

Joe, the login page is still down for maintenance. :smash: But the rest of the site is functional. It is part of the "stay logged in" update I'm working on.

Thanks for the tip on the 2x L46 and no L36.

My car and my name are registered in the registry, but not my username? Last 5 of the VIN 24360. Could you set my username to Smokehouse69? and email me a password, so I can login and upload a picture.

The 69 Registry is nicely done. I've been looking at all C3 registries the past few weeks and this is among the few well done sites.

But there are two 69 Registries...how does an owner know which one is most "official?" The other is http://members.tripod.com/~christof

"Last update : 07/07/00." On Christof's page. That's why I built the one I run...because I didn't see that one going anywhere.

I hope to one day have all 1969 Corvettes registered. The site is my hobby, and I enjoy giving back to the Corvette Community. :grouphug:

From your view, what are the benefits to an owner to belong to a registry? Oh...and I did find christof registry suspect but missed the date.

I think the benefits can really be what the users make of it. It gets us all together to trade information and whatnot. It connects '69 Vette owners together around the world. I have people registered from Germany to Japan to New Zealand...

Nice job. The neat thing about a registry is that you can track running changes throughout a production year. SO...if you have a question, you might find a car close to your VIN, and could contact the owner about it. Chuck
